Kantorei is happy to announce its 2011 - 2012 Concert Season! In what promises to be another incredible year of choral music, Kantorei will present four separate concert series, plus an array of special events. You will not want to miss it!
Kantorei opens the season with a very special concert. "This Shining Night" features Kantorei with celebrated guest-conductor Dr. Anton Armstrong of the world-renowned St. Olaf Choir. And for its first concert of the series, Kantorei is honored to perform at the brand new Lone Tree Arts Center. The program includes works from the classic choral repertoire by Mendelssohn, Pearsall, Palestrina, Pachelbel and Morton Lauridsen. Lauridsen, composer of “Sure On This Shining Night,” once said that he writes music “that elevates the lives of people.”
For its holiday offerings, Kantorei presents three separate opportunities to enjoy holiday choral music: "A Winter's Night," our annual collaboration with the Cherry Creek High School Meistersingers; "The Rose in Winter," our regular holiday concert series; and "Born in Bethlehem," our annual family-friendly holiday concert featuring selections from our regular holiday concert series plus fun arrangements of familiar carols.
Kantorei rounds out the performance season with "The Lark," a choral concert featuring the choral incidental music by Leonard Bernstein from the play by Jean Anouilh, “The Lark,” about the trial, condemnation and execution of Joan of Arc.
